Join us on our first Livestream from the Panama Canal as the “Zonians”, or Americans that grew up in the area of Panama that was essentially a US State, have a reunion and provide background, history, and a unique perspective on current events discuss Panama, the US, CCP aggression and more.
I enjoyed watching the stream. I learned so much. I can't wait for the next one.
I also want to say that Nicaragua sold their gold mines to China for so many years. Costa Rica sold out to China for a highway and now Panama sells out to China for a bridge. It sounds like China is trying to buy their way into owning those countries. I don't see anything good coming out of those deals. Maybe it's just me.
How on earth do I get this information out to others?! Hardly anyone I know uses Substack.

This was an excellent experience, watching you go through the Panama Canal, along with the commentary with historical references. Following Michael Yon is always a good idea. Thank you also to Matthew for his narration.
Excellent post; this is why I subscribe to Michael's Newsletter! IMO Trump is wa-a-a-y too smart to start any kind of military action. His SecState is - again, my opinion - especially well-versed in this area of the world: who is friend and who is foe, and how to deal with them.
I believe the saber-rattling (to the extent there has been any) is directed not at Panama, but at China. In effect, Trump is giving Panama a great way to deal with China: "Hey, Xi, Trump is threatening war if I don't get rid of you, and I can't have war. Go on back to China." We'll see how it goes, but I'm fully on board with Michael here - Panama is a great ally, and I firmly believe Trump is well aware of it.
Great post. Several years ago, I had the pleasure of traveling the St. Lawrence Seaway on an ocean-going bulk carrier - as well as traversing the Welland Canal (not the Panama Canal, but also a great engineering feat). The ship I was on was designed for the St Lawrence/Welland locks (i.e., to just barely fit in the chambers), and was a much tighter fit than the ships on the Panama Canal. Entering the locks, the ship actually made contact with the walls of the lock - it was that tight. Front & back about the same (they had to run the engines at ahead 1/2 in order to overcome the water compression at the head of the lock chamber). Same as Panama Canal - no pumps; all gravity. But water not so much of a problem - had all the Great Lakes to draw from.
Haven't watched the whole presentation...But is a great introduction to the issues influencing Foreign Invasion of the U.S for longer than even Biden's Administrational decisions. Panama isn't an ally most people know much about in the most recent decades. Michael Yon's work around the world...With his friends has really brought awakening for many.
Thanks for the live stream coverage of the canal. I went through 30 years ago on a small sailboat - quite the experience then, and the good fortune to experience it again through your
excellent documentary. Kudos also to Matt and the other local commentators.
Thank you, Michael, Masako, Matthew and all of the Zonians that contributed to this fascinating, educational production on the Panama Canal.
I am sure that you are aware that this year, 2025, is the year of the SNAKE. Djt Is la gran Serpiente numero uno. Make sure Panama has a lot of Anti-Venom on hand, cuz it don’t look good for any of us human beings anywhere on Earth.

CCP Ai BCPS Unrestricted Warfare is going to zap me from my router for 4 hours
Will Trump take it back?
Wow! Someone needs to get this to President Trump asap — because he’s constantly saying saying that China has taken over the Panama Canal !
