What Michael writes is quite accurate as far as I can see but to assist this internal collapse of North America, we must also focus on the internal economic situation. While I do NOT see a collapse in the US Dollar as so many others have been seeing, the debt situation is critical. (Why do I not see a dollar collapse? Overseas there is too much debt to be serviced and this means endless bidding for the US Dollar to buy the interest payments. Also we shall see enormous capital flows to US equities as the situation is worse in those places). For the immediate consideration, keep your eyes on this wretched Debt Ceiling problem and the very pathetic ways that your Congressional Representatives are handling it.
