Our ancestors, in many ways, were brighter than we.
Then again, the Imperialists hadn't yet perfected their overwhelming propaganda system
to centralize education in the U.S. making it indoctrination and many didn't know how to read out in the boonies anyhow.
Even into the 1950's, many people were poor and from agrarian backgrounds having little opportunity for education according to our family journals. Those not indoctrinated simply observe what's possible and act according to whatever is best for resolutions in the moment.
Continue to be amazed by the accomplishment of the whole Canal System in early 20th Century.
