I believe what matters most concerning music and drugs or any intoxicants is the context in which both mediums are absorbed and projected by the subject and audience.
But music as an orchestration of conscience thought and physical forces (maybe even other intangibles not yet fully understood or codified by any scientific study) predates psychology, pathology, pharmacology, shit…. I mean, all of science we accept in modernity is predated by music, and likely by at least a few thousand years.
Audio projection (like music)as a method for grooming and psyops is different than music orchestration shared 2nd hand (lossless audio-vinyl recording played) or 1st-hand (in concert.)
The intriguing fashion of music that entertains my critical view is the digitization of acoustics, particularly the trends in recent decades concerning how this data is stored, broadcast and received.
My bias: Go to live concerts, support performing musicians. Live and let live, or as Pink Floyd would say, “Tear down the wall!”
I’ve lost friends to hard drugs, so be wary of the tribe that subscribes to the cult vibes… ie. “turn on, tune in and drop out.”
Subjective conscience is a gift to cultivate, respect and appreciate in all of its forms.
This fragile condition of humanity is evidenced through millenia, yet is often lost or buried over by prevailing norms, investments and mass-effects of life vs. death.
The humanities are the study of much that I speak to myself over this case-in-point of music and consciousness:
The real mystery in my humble view surrounds the origins of scale modes, frequency transmission as studied and recognized by acoustics and reverberating audible tones. I’m of the opinion that the origin of scale modes predates genesis, was likely preserved and developed some-way around the Mediterranean, as Greek / Anatolian / Turkish city-states evidence such a case. Namesakes like Dorian, Lydian, Aeolian, Locrian, Phrygian, etc.
I bet the Lighthouse at Alexandria had records of such origins.
The perfection of such acoustics to resonate in harmonious blends that contrapuntal music has processed, even perfect synergy through imperfect singular tones when blended in any chamber with clear-enough reverberations, indicates to me a mastery of physical forces that defies modern conventional knowledge.
There are other physical constructs that predate modern engineering of other sciences that suggest similarly miraculous conceptions of physical forces…
For example: gothic cathedrals, perfect geometric patterns in nature or other ancient technologies, etc.

And now for the review of "The Jones Plantation", after my first viewing.
Epic film. It starts slow, but give it the chance, you will not be disappointed, indeed you will be surprised. It will however make you think, and it will challenge you, because you too are in this story! Be honest and recognise yourself, if you have the courage. On a scale of one to best at five, I was going to give it six and then take off a star for Smith's error with M; but then thought again and decide it gets seven precisely because of Mr Smith's use of the Foster technique. No more spoilers; go, watch, think!
Some parallel reading I immediately thought of is a book I recently read. Since y'all have so much free time, here it is, at the low price of free:

You are indeed 'one bad Ass'....this is the best introduction yet of an interviewer introducing you. This was my first impression of you, too: I thought, who is this guy? Where did he come from? You've met someone on your level of insight and thinking...a good friendship developing. Have watched Jones Plantation 3 times. Husband and I are mesmerized each time. Brilliantly put together film...on the smallest budget. That's the power of the Truth....just let it speak for itself...no Hollywood over-embellishment required; just takes superb writing and direction. Somehow, as brainwashed as we all have been throughout our lives, we intuitively can still recognize the Truth when we are blessed enough to encounter it. At least, if our brains are not too destroyed yet. Hearing the Truth has an immediate effect on me. Something like a jolt...perhaps because it is so rare. Thank you. Thoroughly enjoyed Drew and you together.
I have watched Jones Plantation. I give it 5 stars. It's message is not subtle to anyone who sees the pattern. When (IF) "youngsters" are taught about the role of "employers", this film would be a way to show them the tricks of the trade.
